Therapy is your dedicated space and time to process anything and everything. In the beginning, we’ll explore your current struggles, how these struggles relate to past experiences, and identify thoughts, behavioral patterns and relationship dynamics that no longer serve you. We’ll discuss your strengths, personal values, and goals. We’ll also explore various coping skills and tools you can use to help you feel more relaxed and in control of your daily life. Brief homework between sessions is common and can further progress and growth.

I recommend allowing yourself some extra time before your session to prepare and after your session to decompress. It might be helpful to jot a few things down you want to make sure we cover. I also recommend finding a comfortable, private space where you can share without interruption. Sometimes therapy is done from your couch, your home office or even your car (but not while driving!) I also encourage you to test your computer and internet connection prior to the appointment to make sure we have a good connection.
Your first therapy session is called an intake assessment. This session allows us to get to know each other and helps me learn more about why you’re seeking therapy, what symptoms you may be experiencing, and relevant information about your background and history. You also have the opportunity to ask me any questions you might have during this time. -
My fee for a 50 minute individual therapy session is $130, a 60 minute intake assessment is $150 and a 50 minute family session is $140. You are responsible for the full fee at the time of your appointment. I accept HSA/FSA cards, credit cards, debit cards and personal checks.
I do not accept insurance at this time, but I can provide a superbill for you to submit for potential reimbursement. If you have out of network benefits, at least partial reimbursement is more likely. Please call and ask your insurance company the following:
Do I have out of network benefits? What percentage will be reimbursed to me?
Can I use out of network benefits for a telehealth session?
What is my deductible for out of network coverage and has it been met?
How do I submit claims for reimbursement?

In order to cover your care, insurance companies require your mental health diagnosis and ongoing documentation of your treatment. Releasing this information compromises your privacy and may negatively affect life insurance premiums, security clearances, etc. Further, policy benefits often change and insurance companies sometimes deny claims without warning- this can leave you spinning if it comes at a pivotal time during your treatment. By taking financial responsibility for your therapy, you have control of your mental health care and privacy

The frequency of your sessions depends on your individual needs. Once we complete your intake assessment, I’ll offer my recommendation, but therapy sessions typically take place weekly or every other week as this allows us to get to know one another, develop rapport, and lay a sturdy foundation on which to create change.
Over time, sessions generally taper down to once per month or as needed. As a psychotherapist, it is not unusual for me to see clients more long-term. I’ve worked with clients on a tapered schedule for months or years. I’ve also had clients take breaks and return to therapy when new challenges and life transitions arise.

I understand that sick kids and schedule conflicts happen. If you need to cancel or reschedule your therapy session for any reason, I ask that you call or email me at least 24 hours prior. If you cancel less than 24 hours before your scheduled session, you will be responsible for the full session fee.
